Reason For Joining BBK: |
The reason I joined BBK was to help my fellow fans in the pursuit of
righting the injustice of the impromptu, inappropriate death that a
well-respected hero and icon received. The ending of The Undiscovered
Country was deconstructed and destroyed by the so-called "ending" he
received in Generations. Frankly, Kirk deserves better... Why should
we know how he died anyway? |
Reasons For Liking Trek: |
There's a lot to like about Star Trek... whether that be the fancy
technology or the excellent storytelling or the characters. Frankly, as I
see it, the characters are Trek's greatest strength. Their ability
to cope with situations on planets and in space that, while they're set there,
have something to do with what is happening on Earth. From war to famine
to the ails of humanity, Gene Roddenberry and the entourage of actors, cast
members and writers who sculpted this utopian future give us hope for the
future -- and for now, in our everyday lives.
What attracted me to Trek were the characters of people like James
T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard, Jake Sisko, Scotty, Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Spock,
Data, Beverly Crusher, Uhura, Dax, and other characters from CST, TNG,
& DS9. The characters, and how they deal with things, are
the basis of what Star Trek is all about. Everything else is secondary. |
